Fly Fishing

Home to The Houghton Club, the oldest fly fishing club in the world, founded in 1822, and situated a stone's throw from the banks of the world famous River Test, fly fishing is our passion and at the very core of our sporting heritage.

The main trout fishing season on the Rivers Test and Itchen runs from 1st May to 30th Sept but good trout fishing is also available in April and October on certain stretches.

For the hardy sports fisherman or woman, the grayling season picks up from 1st Nov and runs to the 28th Feb.

Feel free to contact us directly for some guidance on either trout or grayling fishing, or reach out to one of the principal fishing agents who can arrange access to some of the finest beats throughout the season. We recommend Upstream Dry Fly Fishing, Fishing Breaks, Famous Fishing and Aardvark McLeod. All will be able to organise fishing and provide guides and tackle as necessary.

We can provide hampers so you don't go hungry and can recommend Robjents, just 100 metres up the high street for those last minute fishing essentials - flies, leaders, sunglasses or whatever else you require!
